This Year's Tennis Tournament A Hugh Success

Thank you to everyone for another successful Firehouse Subs Men's Doubles Tennis Tournament!
Not only were there lots of cannonball punch poured, great Outback steak, 'shrooms, mashed potatoes and salad, children having fun everywhere and lots of amazing tennis, the tournament raised a record $250,000 for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation! Those funds will be used to improve the life-saving capabilities of emergency service entities by providing equipment, prevention and educational tools to the public, scholarships to those pursuing a career in public safety and disaster relief.

2009 Tournament Winners
Congratulations to Mario Vergarra and Dante Bottini, second time winners of the Open Division of the tournament! Our appreciation goes out to all of the players that demonstrated their skills and commitment to our cause. We are grateful for your participation year after year and for making this the best amateur tournament in Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia.

The Foundation would like to thank all of the sponsors of the event for making this a banner year for the Foundation. In addition, to all the businesses that made donation to the Silent Auction, we appreciate your contribution helping us raise over $10,000 in the auction! Many thanks go out to the staff of Deerwood Country Club for their tremendous effort for hosting and working the event, as well as this year's tournament director, Randy Jenks, and player relations, Steve Vockell. Without the support of donors, volunteers and participants, the tournament would not have been the success it was.

The fun doesn't end here. Mark your calendars for the 2010 Firehouse Subs Men's Doubles Tennis Tournament for Friday, May 14 to Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Deerwood Country Club. We look forward to seeing you then!
