BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPOTLIGHT: MEET TRACY ‘MAC’ MCFADDEN, SR. AND TRACY ‘T. MAC’ MCFADDEN, JR.

As Black History Month continues, we are honored to celebrate Black members of our Firehouse Subs® family and their incredible accomplishments within restaurants and local communities.

While Tracy ‘Mac’ McFadden, Sr. and his namesake Tracy ‘T. Mac’ McFadden, Jr. have owned and operated Firehouse Subs® Bandera 1604 in San Antonio, Texas since October 2021, the father-son duo has over 60 years of combined restaurant industry experience between them.

Working hard from an early age runs in the family as Mac and T. Mac were eager to get their first jobs at 16. T. Mac’s first job was at Firehouse Subs® restaurant, where he joined as a crew member before working his way up to general manager.

When asked what their favorite thing about Firehouse Subs® is, T. Mac and Mac recalled how impactful it was when they visited a location in Jacksonville, Florida for the first time. Between the incredible taste of the sandwiches, the firefighter-inspired restaurant décor, and the clear commitment to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, they were struck by how unique Firehouse Subs® is compared to other brands.

T. Mac notes that his father is who inspired him to pursue entrepreneurship. “I always confer with my dad for wise advice and lean on him for his deep knowledge of the industry,” said T. Mac. “I always know that when I request time off for vacation, it’ll get approved,” he jokingly added.

It is a family affair at the McFaddens’ restaurant with T. Mac’s two sisters, Shirah and Shainah, working as shift leaders when needed.

Like their names and career paths, the father and son pair share the same favorite hot and hearty sub - the New York Steamer®.
