Two years after he biked 3,000 miles across the U.S., former Jacksonville Jaguars and Green Bay Packers player Don Davey is back in action for a good cause. This time, he biked over 700 miles in six days from Key West to the west coast to Jacksonville.
Davey, who owns 22 Firehouse Subs® restaurants in Central Florida and Wisconsin, competed in the Florida Recon Ride, as part of Team One Mile. The ride raised funds and awareness for The One Mile Leadership Project, a 501c3 organization.
The team’s goal was to highlight and bring awareness to the Florida communities still rebuilding from one of our nation's worst natural disasters - Hurricane Ian. Made up of 18 cyclists who are either former military or civilian leaders, Team One Mile stopped in different cities and hosted live charity events, where they highlighted a community veteran hero. They also left behind an emergency preparedness kit for future hurricane relief.
Don was interviewed by Sports Multimedia Journalist Nathaniel Rivas at the Mariner's Village Firehouse Subs restaurant in Orlando.
