FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATION® HOPES TO RAISE $500,000 FOR HOMETOWN HEROES IN OCTOBER

FOUNDATION ASKS NATION TO BUY MEDALLIONS, TAKE SAFETY SELFIES TO SAVE LIVES

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Oct. 1, 2014 – Firehouse Subs® continues its long-standing mission to save lives through support of the nation’s first responders with its largest fundraiser, Public Safety Month. For its 2014 campaign, the nationwide chain announces a goal to raise $500,000 for its non-profit, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, which to-date has donated more than $11 million in life-saving equipment to public safety organizations across the nation.

“These donations drastically improve first responders’ emergency response capabilities  and save lives,” says Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Executive Director Robin  Peters.

Firehouse Subs is encouraging guests to support the Foundation by purchasing a $1 or $5 paper medallion during the month of October. And, “fans of Firehouse” are encouraged to take safety selfies by posting photos performing simple, everyday tasks such as wearing a helmet when riding a bike, stocking a first aid kit, wearing bright colors when walking at night, checking the batteries in a smoke detector, blowing out a candle before leaving a room, or posing in a Firehouse Subs restaurant with a Public Safety Month medallion.

Firehouse Subs celebrates its 20th anniversary, Oct. 10. As a thank you to its customers, the brand will purchase a $1 medallion to support the Foundation for every Hook & Ladder® sub sold, up to $20,000. This will take place on Oct. 10 only.

“We can’t think of a better way to show our appreciation for 20 years of support than to  give back to the very people who work so hard to protect us all,” said Firehouse Subs Co- Founder and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Board Chairman Robin Sorensen. “The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is the heart of Firehouse Subs and that heart does not beat without the community’s help. To reach our $500,000 goal, we need you.”

In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations. Many first responders make do with older  equipment and have limited or no access to needed resources, but Firehouse Subs Public  Safety Foundation has given more than $11 million to hometown heroes in 41 states and  Puerto Rico.
