FIREHOUSE SUBS THROUGH AND THROUGH: INTRODUCING SHANNON RICE, PROUD FIREHOUSE SUBS DISTRICT MANAGER

FIREHOUSE SUBS THROUGH AND THROUGH: INTRODUCING SHANNON RICE, PROUD FIREHOUSE SUBS DISTRICT MANAGER

With National Food Service Employees Day on Sunday, September 25, we’re continuing to highlight some of our shining stars within U.S. Firehouse Subs restaurants across our system – meet Shannon Rice.

Shannon joined the Firehouse Subs family 11 years ago in Las Vegas, Nevada, starting out as a restaurant cashier and has grown to lead three area restaurants as District Manager. Shannon has built countless relationships during her tenure at Firehouse Subs and, without a doubt, her customers love her, as evident by recent customer comments.

“Shannon was excellent! She gave friendly, informative service!”

“I just want to give a personal shout out to Shannon, the manager at this location. She was very helpful and we appreciated her so much.”

“This is my favorite location because of the manager, Shannon.”

Shannon also extends her warmth to her relationships within the Firehouse Subs Family. Franchise Business Consultant Dan Golisch notes: “Shannon’s best quality is that she is unbelievably nice and very approachable. She is Firehouse Subs through and through and while she focuses on guest service, she makes certain the business side isn’t sacrificed.”

Learn more below about Shannon and what makes her tick.

  • How long have you been an employee at Firehouse Subs and what positions have you held over the years?

I started at Firehouse Subs in May 2011. My very first position was as a cashier, and I then moved up to Team Lead. When the owners of the restaurant I worked at were selling, franchisee Bob Rather made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. He trained and certified me as a general manager for one of his restaurants. Over the years, I’ve continued to learn and stepped into the role as his district manager. It’s been a great time.

  • What’s your favorite part about working at Firehouse Subs?

The relationships I have built. Not only with the Team Members but also with the Operations and Corporate teams. Those folks have taught me a lot and have held me accountable.

I also have to say our guests. I can tell you about so many regulars in all the restaurants! It’s nice to see their faces and they keep coming back for a great product.

  • What is your favorite Firehouse Subs sandwich?

My favorite sandwich is the Engineer™. It’s Simple! The mushrooms and that Swiss cheese…delicious!!

  • Describe a moment that made you proud to be part of the Firehouse Subs family.

I have built great relationships over the years with catering and so forth. Every year, we team up with the Emergency Management Team of Las Vegas for their annual first responders training to provide box lunches for the event. All the agencies, from firefighters to metro, that keep this city going work so hard during the training, and it’s a great way to see how they appreciate a great lunch when it’s all over. Watching them say thank you as I walk by and introduce myself and then saying thank you for the support we show them, always makes me so proud to be a part of the Firehouse Subs family. Just a fun day!

  • Do you have any kids and/or pets?

I am a proud wife, mother of five children, and a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren.

  • How do you feel about pickles?

I honestly don’t love pickles. However, our pickle buckets raise money for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which is wonderful! They’re crispy too!

  • What do you enjoy doing when you’re not selling subs and saving lives?

In my free time it’s family for me! Making new memories with them is what I love the most! From swimming and family dinners once a week to doing cool things as a family, they are my backbone and my life. They have supported my Firehouse Subs career and still continue to do so.
