MEET CHAD FULKERSON: PROUD WEST TEXAS FRANCHISEE AND U.S. AIR FORCE VETERAN

MEET CHAD FULKERSON: PROUD WEST TEXAS FRANCHISEE AND U.S. AIR FORCE VETERAN

On this Veterans Day, we proudly conclude our series highlighting several U.S. Firehouse Subs franchisees who have served, or currently serve, in the Armed Forces with yet another remarkable story.

Hailing from West Texas, Franchisee Chad Fulkerson is well-known for his reliability, work ethic and calm demeanor – which is, of course, no surprise given his storied career prior to joining the Firehouse Subs Family.

Throughout his decade of service in the U.S. Air Force, Fulkerson served in integral roles that many of us could only dream of. His time spent testing and teaching others to fly the multi-mission B-1 Bomber – often referred to as the “backbone” of the Air Force inventory – is a foundational part of his military career.

When asked what skills he developed in the Air Force that prepared him to lead his two successful West Texas restaurants, Fulkerson simply shares the core values taught to all Airmen on their first day of Basic Military Training – “Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in All We Do.”

Please join us today in honoring the remarkable legacy of those who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms – and learn more about our very own Chad Fulkerson by reading the below.

In what branch of the U.S. military did you serve?

I served in the U.S. Air Force for 10 and a half years.

What was your role in the military?

I was a Weapons System Officer and Navigator for the B-1 Bomber, serving out of Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. My last assignment was as a B-1 Test Engineer and Instructor, tasked primarily with testing and evaluating modifications on the B-1 Bomber, and training future aircrews to fly upgraded B-1s.

What made you become a Firehouse Subs franchisee?

I wanted to own my own business, but partner with an organization that shared a lot of the same values and successes that can be accomplished in the military. Firehouse Subs was the only one to make the list.

What does Veterans Day mean to you?

It’s a day to honor and remember the men and women who serve, and have served, in our great nation’s military, protecting and defending our freedoms, while deterring war and ensuring national interest and security against all enemies.
