MEET EUGENE WHITNEY JR. – THE MONROE MANAGER EVERYONE KNOWS AND LOVES

We’re keeping the highlights coming in honor of National Food Service Employees Day on Sunday, September 25. Today, meet another one of our best and brightest leaders in the U.S. Firehouse Subs restaurants system – Mr. Eugene Whitney Jr.

Mr. Whitney is the General Manager of the Maison Market restaurant in Monroe, Louisiana. If you’ve been there once, you probably know and love him already. As the restaurant owner Luke Nichols said, “Eugene knows everybody. There isn’t one person that comes into the restaurant that Eugene doesn’t talk to. In fact, people come in just to talk to Eugene.”

Nichols went on to say just how lucky they are to have Mr. Whitney. “ I don’t have to worry about anything when Eugene is leading the team. Honestly, I don’t think I could ever find another manager that I trust on this level – to handle all the mess that comes with running a restaurant. We were very lucky to find him.”

Eugene Whitney Jr. started as the General Manager of Maison Market just two months after the restaurant opened in 2018. He’s been there for four years now, bringing smiles and big 10-12 greeting to every guest that walks through the doors.

  • What’s your favorite part of working at Firehouse Subs?

The guests! I love talking to my customers and making sure they’re taken care of. Customer service is my top priority.

  • Describe a moment  that made you proud to be part of the Firehouse Subs family.

I am most proud when we’re giving back to the community. We had a grant award event at the restaurant earlier this year, where we got to present the Tallulah Fire Department with a check from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. It was amazing to be part of that and to see how the in-store donations actively help communities like ours.

  • What do you enjoy doing when you’re not selling subs and saving lives?

When I’m not at the restaurant, you can probably find me hanging out with my grandkids, Ashton Gene and Avery Grace Whitney.

With high volume energy and a contagious smile, Eugene’s kindness reverberates not only throughout the restaurant and its staff, but throughout the community as well – as is evident by a constant stream of positive guest comments.

“Eugene Whitney is Firehouse to us. He is VERY kind and talks to all customers. He is the reason we keep coming back!!”

“Eugene is absolutely a wonderful person, and all the other employees are happy, cheerful and efficient. The environment feels great for both workers and customers.“

“The manager is amazing!! He is always greeting and making sure customers are satisfied. He is so friendly and keeps his employees in shape.”

“Eugene Whitney is one of the best store managers I have ever seen… Customer service like this is hard to find these days and I really appreciate it.”

“I was greeted with a whopping (10-12) greeting… As a former law enforcement officer, such greetings make the sacrifice to protect & serve the community worthwhile. The Manager (Eugene Whitney) walked around and appeared to know the first name of many customers... He even engaged the customers to join him in singing Happy Birthday to a young teenager. Such a spontaneous response brought smiles to everyone's face. Thank God for Mr. Whitney and Staff at Firehouse in Monroe, LA.”
