MEET FIREHOUSE SUBS FRANCHISEE, ACTIVE RESERVE MARINE & PROUD MARINE CORPS VETERAN DANIEL PETTIT
Meet Firehouse Subs Franchisee, Active Reserve Marine & Proud Marine Corps Veteran Daniel Pettit
In honor of Veterans Day on November 11, we are recognizing and honoring some of our Firehouse Subs franchisees who selflessly served their nation in the United States military. This is part 6 of 6.
As a Marine veteran, Daniel Pettit continues to live the core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty, which he learned while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to opening his sole Firehouse Subs restaurant in Manchester, New Hampshire in February 2019, he admired the brand for the hot and hearty subs and its dedication to first responders. As he owns and operates his restaurant in Manchester, he is also currently an active Reserve Marine.
Learn more about Daniel and how he uses his experience as a veteran to successfully operate his restaurant.
In what branch of the U.S. military did you serve and for how long?
I joined the Marine Corps in 2006 and was an active Marine for 12 years. I am currently in the Marine Corps Reserve.
What was your role in the military?
I flew fighter jets!
What’s your favorite part about being a military veteran?
I had the honor to meet some great people and traveled to some very interesting places. I learned a lot and it was a great feeling to contribute to a greater good.
What made you become a Firehouse Subs franchisee?
I opened my Firehouse Subs in Manchester, New Hampshire in 2019. I always really enjoyed the food and after learning more about the brand, I was hooked. The experience has been great and I really enjoy meeting our guests. The connection to public service and public safety is the cherry on top!
Did you learn anything in the military that transfers over to being a restaurant owner? If so, what?
Serving as a Marine has taught me how to work with others and manage people and my time effectively. It instilled a deep appreciation for first responders and a desire to give back to the community
What was your favorite part about serving our country?
It's an honor to serve as a Marine and know I am doing something good. It feels good to be a part of something a lot larger. Being a Marine has given me a purpose in life.
What is your favorite Firehouse Subs sandwich?
My favorite sub is the Firehouse Italian™ sub - I especially love how the pepperoni and salami are steamed and get a little greasy. The garlic butter we had available for a limited time earlier this year was delicious! I occasionally added that to my Italian Sub when it was on the menu.
