Second Annual Firehouse Subs® Open Golf Tournament
Raises $630,000+ for First Responders
All funds raised benefit Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – October 12, 2021 – Firehouse Subs® held its second annual golf tournament, the Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament, at TPC Sawgrass on Wednesday, October 6 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in addition to its first ever online auction. Between the online auction, sponsorships and tournament fundraising activities, more than $630,000 was raised to benefit the non-profit Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, who to date has awarded more than $62.5 million in lifesaving equipment to hometown heroes across the country. All funds will benefit the Foundation, and will help the Foundation achieve its mission of providing lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships and continued education, disaster relief, as well as support for military veterans.
“New to this year’s Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament was the brand’s first ever online auction, which with the extreme generosity of those who participated, raised more than $25,000, proving to be a success in allowing the public to conveniently donate from the comfort of their home and ultimately support the Foundation,” said Meg Rose, Firehouse Subs Senior Vice President of Field Operations. “I’m happy to say that we exceeded our goal of raising $500,000 through the tournament, and look forward to continuing this tradition in the coming years.”
During the tournament, there were a number of contests, raffles and fundraising activities. Golfers were able to hear firsthand from Urban Search and Rescue Team Florida Task Force 1, first responder, Captain John Long who was deployed to Surfside, Florida along with his two K9s, Cable and Stone. All three assisted in search and rescue efforts after the condo collapse. This allowed for direct donations to a Bid from the Heart fundraiser where all donations made will go towards providing lifesaving equipment to first responders and public safety organizations across the country. Nearly $37,000 was raised through these donations, and with Firehouse Subs Founders Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen matching the total, this brings the final amount to more than $73,000.
Participants in this year’s Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament included first responders from Duval County, Nassau County, the City of St. Augustine and more.
