SERVICE WITH A SMILE: MEET GENERAL MANAGER JERAMIAH PHILLIPS

SERVICE WITH A SMILE: MEET GENERAL MANAGER JERAMIAH PHILLIPS

As National Food Service Employees Day approaches on Sunday, September 25, we are honored to shine a light on yet another inspiring restaurant leader – this time hailing from the Lone Star State.

At Firehouse Subs Waco #849, hot and hearty subs served with a smile are what guests can expect, thanks to General Manager Jeramiah Phillips.

A member of the Firehouse Subs Family for nearly four years, Jeramiah Phillips is well known within the restaurant – and the Waco, Texas community – as a daily source of positivity, with a passion for delivering top-notch service to all who enter the doors.

“Jeramiah and his staff are always the friendliest… that’s why we go back every week,” says one loyal guest. “He makes you feel like a member of the family,” says another.

But it’s not just Jeramiah’s leadership and people skills that make him such a critical asset to the Firehouse Subs brand. Franchise Owner Brad Watkins notes: “Jeramiah’s business acumen and drive to succeed has been critical to my restaurant’s growth and reputation in Waco. He’s one of the strongest leaders I’ve ever seen.”

Learn more about Jeramiah’s background, his inspirations and hopes for the future:

  • How long have you been an employee at Firehouse Subs?

This year will be my fourth year as General Manager at the Firehouse Subs in Waco, Texas. I am also responsible for all of our catering and marketing sales, too!

  • What’s your favorite part about working at Firehouse Subs?

My favorite part of my job would be my guests. I have always wanted to own my own café and I have turned our little restaurant into a great café atmosphere. We have a lot of regulars that keep coming back!

  • What is your favorite Firehouse Subs sandwich?

My favorite is the Club on the Sub, but the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket™ is pretty delicious, too.

  • Describe a moment that made you proud to be part of the Firehouse Subs family.

When my mother passed away this January, I was welcomed back with open arms by restaurant owner Brad Watkins, my Killeen #525 co-manager, Joshlynn, and my regulars. Our guests are like family to me and this is my home away from home – I have developed a personal relationship with many of them through the restaurant and social media.

  • Do you have any pets?

I have an awesome dog named CJ. He is a one-year-old Shitzu with more personality than a good book!

  • How do you feel about pickles?

I like our pickles, but prefer them chopped up on a sandwich – it's a yummy crunch!

  • What do you enjoy doing when you’re not selling subs and saving lives?

Much of my free time is spent working on my schoolwork. When my mom passed away, I made a promise to finish my education; so, after 18 years, I am currently pursuing a double bachelor's degree in human resources and communications. I love my job and hope to continue expanding my role with Firehouse Subs, potentially on the public relations, marketing or training teams.
