As National Food Service Employees Day approaches on Sunday, September 25, we are excited to highlight another inspiring restaurant leader – meet Tanya McComb.

Tanya joined the Firehouse Subs Family five years ago, almost to the day, as the General Manager at the Azalea Square restaurant in Summerville, South Carolina. According to BJ Paquin, the local franchisee of the restaurant, some of Tanya’s best qualities are “her energy and positive attitude.” Paquin also adds, “I think the most special thing about Tanya is that she is always game for whatever we throw at her…she isn't scared to put in the extra work to ensure the high standards we have are met consistently.”

Her bubbly personality is contagious and she is committed to providing the best guest experience, making her loved by anyone who comes through the restaurant. “Tanya always takes great care of us…she knows you by name and is super nice,” says one loyal guest. “She made sure I received my order exactly how I liked it. And even checked up on my table later on,” says another.

Learn more about Tanya’s background, why she loves the brand and a bit about her outside of work:

  • How long have you been an employee at Firehouse Subs and what positions have you held over the years?

I have been with Firehouse Subs for exactly 5 years – I just had my anniversary! I have been the general manager at the Azalea Square location for all of those years.

  • What’s your favorite part about working at Firehouse Subs?

Where do I start? I love the culture, the comradery and working with the Paquin family. Firehouse Subs is exactly what I needed in a company – I am such a customer-oriented person and love that the guest and the food is always our focus.

  • What is your favorite Firehouse Subs sandwich?

It’s a toss up between the Spicy Cajun Chicken and the New York Steamer®.

  • Describe a moment that made you proud to be part of the Firehouse Subs family.

There have been so many. Growing up I’d work alongside my family to support and give back to our community. So to me, all the moments when we have given back to the community, whether it was feeding first responders or participating in H2O for Heroes® – those are the meaningful moments that make me love what we do.

  • Do you have any kids and/or pets?

I have 6 amazing kids and a very supportive husband.

  • How do you feel about pickles?

I love pickles! There is not a pickle I don’t like.

  • What do you enjoy doing when you’re not selling subs and saving lives?

I enjoy spending time with my kids and my husband and I like to travel to explore new places and try different restaurants. I love family time and creating new experiences.
