Third Annual Firehouse Subs® Open Golf Tournament
Raises $600,000+ for First Responders
All funds raised benefit Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – October 7, 2021 – Firehouse Subs® held its third annual golf tournament, the Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament, at TPC Sawgrass on Thursday, Oct. 6 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in addition to an online auction. Between both an in-person and online auction, sponsorships and tournament fundraising activities, more than $600,000 was raised to benefit the non-profit Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, who to date has awarded more than $71 million in lifesaving equipment to hometown heroes across the country, and more than $4.6 million in Jacksonville alone. All funds will benefit the Foundation, and will help the Foundation achieve its mission of providing lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships and continued education, and disaster relief for first responders and public safety organizations, as well as support for military veterans across the country.
“Because of the support of our donors, we have been able to provide much-needed equipment and resources to first responders and the communities they serve across all 50 states,” said Robin Peters, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Executive Director. “The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation could not be more grateful to the generous donors who’ve participated in this year’s Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament and making these grants possible.”
During the tournament, there were a number of contests, raffles and fundraising activities. For a second year, Firehouse Subs Founders Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen will match the total amount of money raised through a dedicated fundraiser named “Bid from the Heart.” Nearly $55,700 was raised through the donations, and with the Sorensen’s matching, more than $111,400 will go towards providing lifesaving equipment to first responders and public safety organizations across the country.
Participants in this year’s Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament included first responders from Nassau County and the City of St. Augustine. Firehouse Subs executives and leadership team individuals also participated in the tournament, including Restaurant Brands International CEO José Cil and Firehouse Subs CEO Don Fox. Major sponsors included Active International, Main Street America, Stewart Sutherland, Meristem and AlphaStaff.
